Where have I been...

Awwwww...that is a hard and difficult question.  I can't believe people have still come by my blog.  I thank you for that.

My dear sweet mom was diagnosed with leukemia last June.  It was always a terminal kind but she made it one year and a month, passing away on the 4th of July.  I spent much time with her during the year and stayed with her for two months at the end.

I am sad, glad she is at peace.  Restless, tired.  She was my best friend, mother, dad, card player, humorous, loving, and strong. 

I will miss her every day...always...forever.

Love you mom...with ALL my heart.

A Proud Moment

This is the latest wonderful publication from Somerset Magazine. 

It is just done so well.  They have captured "Prims", in all aspects of the medium.  The typeface, the colors, the graphics.  It will be another sell-out I am sure.

And the best part and so exciting for me is I am in it!  My friend Kim and I decided to make a doll and submit it for the.  We made it inand I am so pleased to be included.  It was one of those pieces of art that just flowed together.  Thanks Kim for playing with me and thanks Somerset for showcasing Primitives in all their glory.

My 10 month old kitten named Lily.  She has been watching the leaves and dead grass blow around all day on the back porch.  She's charming, playful and sweet.

That Miracle of Nature

It happens every year and yet I am still fascinated by it all.   It's the migration of the birds.

I looked out the window of my studio which is on the second floor of our house.  There they were...robins.  Flocks of them.  In trees, in these bushes.

They are a kind of holly bush and because the drought is over in Atlanta, they are just FULL of red berries.  Nothing seems interested in them till spring and then it is a feast.  We have 10 birds at a time in there filling up for the long ride north. 

They will need the energy to get thru all that snow!  Nature is unending, changes and yet remains the same.  Peek out your window today...you may see something wonderful!

   

Valentine Love

Hello:

I am feeling the red...the glitter...the sparkle and chocolate.  REALLY, is there a better holiday then this? 

This is the Valentine banner I made and put over my fireplace mantle.  It is based on Teresa's current Zine. 

Of course, i had to change it to suit me.  The first heart has a vintage Valentine hankie in the pocket.  The second I wanted to show mostly the beautiful cover of the sheet music I used.  The third has a vintage image of a Valentine card tucked in the pocket and the fourth has some vintage flowers, tickets stubs and a heart. I hung the banner with some great red seam binding. 

I love how it turned out.

Kind like the Met

i love to do well run swaps.  I have done many swaps over the years but my favorite group is Redlead.

I belong to their yahoo group and have done tags, books, and ATC themed swaps.  They have a wonderful online store and I have heard a great retail store too.  But what I love is that swaps are so organized and go out on a timely basis.

The most recent swap I just did is a swap using old photos.  I used coptic markers to highlight certain areas of the photo.

   

I will get back 7 ATC's as part of the swap. All mini works of art. 

I did these two for my friend Kim.  One is a fabric ATC I owed her and a thank you for my lovely Christmas present...a vintage stuffed Scottie Dog.

Do I live in the south or not?

This snowman was made in Ohio over the Christmas break where it snowed every day much to my daughter's delight.  I can't back to Atlanta to find it just as cold and tonight it is.........SNOWING.

I thought I left that stuff behind in Maine.

Why do You Read Certain Blogs

I book blogs for different reasons.  Some might have interesting eye-candy.  Or they might always have the coolest articles about art.

They're writings might be so poetic or their journaling so cool 

But they are all inspiring and wonderful to read after a long and frustrating day.
